WEB SITES

Lifestyle Transitions is a small business devoted to sharing information about pre-retirement life planning and offering retirement life planning seminars. It's owner, Karen Vierneisel, wanted more than a dry, informational site. She wanted beauty, color, movement and inspiration. Photos and flash graphics are sprinkled liberally throught the pages, which all end in an inspirational quote.

time+plus payroll services

Time+Plus® has very specific requirements for its franchises' publicity and use of its name and logo.

When Time+Plus Chicago wanted a site, we worked within the company's constraints to create this clean, "corporate" site.

The Cancer List is a simple site created "to provide a site that discusses cancer in more basic terms than most of the websites that are out there. We are designed to be a starting point if you or a friend or loved one have been diagnosed with cancer and are looking for information."

The client didn't want a lot of fancy "bells and whistles," just easy navigation for visitors looking for support and information. A free blog on blogspot.com was created and customized to match the site.

w brothers roofing

W. Brothers Roofing wanted a simple site that stylistically followed their advertising flyers. The header is their official logo.

They also wanted to use the electronic version of the materials that they present to each potential client, including a welcome letter about the company and their services, a list of local references, testimonials and photos of their work.

The list of services offered at the top was turned into links to another page with more detailed infomation. We are hoping that these important keywords will help them get found by search engines in the near future.

At the bottom of the screen, they wanted logos from their suppliers and credit card companies, as well as info about awards that they've won.

Wendy Lalli, an extremely energetic, creative woman and founder of the Oak Park Creative Network, wanted a site that would showcase her many talents and skills.

The home page was designed to look like a page in a sketch book, with Wendy's original drawings and buttons created to look like ideas that had just been jotted down.

Wendy Lalli Creative

The site is very complex and was quite a challenge to organize. It has six main pages, corresponding to Wendy's skill-set, each with a clickable collage of graphic samples of her work in the center. By clicking on each image, the visitor can visit individual pages with a more detailed graphic and description of each piece.

There are also six additional pages with informationa about Wendy's career coaching seminars, networking events and more.

optic fuel clean of Minnesota

Optic Fuel Clean of Minnesota is a partner of River Forest Environmental (see below). It provides UST and AST owners in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, the Dakotas, Montana and Nebraska with the OpticSweep™ fuel-cleaning system and needed a site that defines and supports the use of this new technology.

River Forest Environmetal and Optic Fuel Clean's sites share similarities in color scheme and content, but Optic Fuel Clean preferred a more complex design, with additional graphics and text, which we were delighted to include.

River Forest Environmental is a partner of Optic Fuel Clean of Minnesota. It provides UST and AST owners in Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana with the OpticSweep™ fuel-cleaning system and needed a site that defines and supports the use of this new technology.

The site was designed by the client in excel and transferred to the web by Lombard and Thomas.

It's home page is designed to look like a newsletter and it's "Bad News" column is updated regularly.

andrea t green

Andrea T Green's landscape design site was almost too easy to create. The talented designer came to us with the pages already designed in powerpoint.

We tweaked the layout a bit, added links and a background and the project went online.

Lombard and Thomas takes no credit for the gorgeous initial design of the SoTish Gallery site.We took it over in February, 2005 because the client wanted to add an on-line boutique to her offerings.

Our wonderful and talented programmer was able to seamlessly adapt an e-commerce package to meet the client's needs.

Sister Wolf Books

Sister Wolf Books is located in northern Minnesota in the small town of Dorset. They are only open during the summer, when several groups of locals meet weekly for book discussions.

The store also hosts special events, a storytime and coffee bar.

The owner hoped to encourage her community to use the new website to keep track of events, announcements and local activities over the summer. A monthly discount coupon is also offered. During the winter, we created a customized blog, linked to their site, for use during the months that the store is closed.

At The Gallery already had the beginnings of a site, but wanted it expanded.

They were looking for a combination of whimsy and sophistication in the site design.

The artists represented, the specific pieces available and schedule of gallery shows are updated regularly.

Gabriele Pietsch

Gabriele Pietsch was looking for a "simple but elegant" site to display her work.

As an artist, she wanted direct input during the design process. The color choices, layout and

feel for the site were all a result of her active decision-making.

Gabriele passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2005. She will be missed. Her site will continue to be maintained.

Photographer James P Rowan asked Lombard and Thomas to take over the maintainence of his site in 2003.

Since then, we have redesigned the pages and added several new galleries of work, continuing to do so as new collections are created.

Keys to Recovery

Keys to Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in a large community hospital.

They wanted a site that would help publicize their services, apart from the hospital.

The challenge was to design a calm, welcoming site for an organization with no logo or identifying colors.

West Suburban Temple Har Zion has been online for years, thanks to the excellent work of their webmaster emeritus.

In 2004, the board felt that it was time to update and modernize the site.

Several excellent photographers associated

W Sub Temple Har Zion
with the synagogue will regularly provide new photos, allowing us to show the warmth and excitment that this organization brings to the western suburbs.
Carolyn Ash Skin Care

Carolyn Ash sells Yon-Ka skin care products and her book, Timeless Skin. She also offers advice for many common skin conditions and problems.

Her site was five years old and needed updating and redesigning.

Yon-Ka agreed to let us use their beautiful graphics of herbs, flowers and skin care products, which made the site a delight to design and build. The products pages use code from cart32.com so that visitors can purchase skincare items online. New advice is added monthly.

Prairie-Oak Communications specializes in public relations, corporate communications and marketing communications.

They wanted a business-like site that echoed their community's love of all things Prairie Style.

Prairie Oak

The Natural Garden

The Natural Garden Inc is a nursery specializing in native and ornamental plants and grasses. In addition to selling plants, the nursery holds gardening classes, workshops and seminars.

Schedules of events as well as helpful information about growing plants can be found on this site, which was designed to match the nursery's catalogue and logo. New photos of plants in bloom are rotated each week throughout the summer.

(The Natural Garden's home page was redesigned in February, 2005 to match the new look of their catalog, stationary and business cards)

Magic Tree Bookstore is a beloved, full-service children's bookstore in Oak Park, IL. A million different things are going on all the time and the owners want them all publicized:

Authors come for readings and sell signed copies of their books; special displays are created for holidays and seasonal changes; there are story times and book clubs; musical events and contests.

Magic Tree

The site was created using graphics by the store's designer, Lynn Zurowski and is updated constantly. We also send out a monthly e-mail newsletter that uses the same beautiful graphics.

MJ Connolly

MJ Connolly is a company that provides glass and windows to architects and contractors, so they wanted a site with a style resembling blue prints and other working documents.

Special effect: as visitors mouse over the menu, the large picture in the center will change to an example of work that the company has created for that category.

Art and Linda's Wildflowers - Art Gara and Linda Schwab raise and sell native plants. They also consult on design and installation of wildflower gardens and have produced a slide show about their first love: Wolf Road Prairie. (Art and Linda's home page was redesigned  in Jan, 2004, then again in Oct, 2006)

encourage visitors to see the beauty and value of our native wildflowers.

The site features the pair's original photographs, quotes by Art and others who inspired him, as well as practical information about their business. The site is updated regularly as new garden projects get photographed or farmers' market and slide show schedules become available.

Habonim Camp Tavor already had a new site, designed by a talented programmer, but they needed someone to create lighter and livelier pages for the summer.

The flash door, used as a link to the summer pages, added whimsy and fun.

Campers and staff sent photos and captions all summer. New pages and updated links were added regularly. (Was responsible for this site only until 1/05)

Ward Mosaic is a site created for glass artist Dr. David Ward, who creates large, surreal pieces from small chips of glass. He preferred a site that was more straightforward: allowing potential clients and galleries a chance

Ward Splash

to view his work, find out where the work had been shown and to learn a bit about the artist.

Dr. Ward requested a simple site that reflectes his taste and subject-matter. It is updated occasionally as new work is added.

Nystrom Business Systems, a supplier of filing systems and office supplies, wanted a straight-forward site that would act as an on-line business card and catalogue.

The original navigational graphics, created in Illustrator, used the shape and colors of one of the client's premier filing systems.

Note: The Nystrom Business System home page was redesigned in November, 2004, when the business was changed to NBSI and the client no longer carried the tabs used to create the original navigational graphics.

larryzgodastudio.com - is a site originally created for stained glass artist Larry Zgoda by Jon Zgoda. We later expanded the design and added features.

Larry has been working in his field for almost thirty years.

Zgoda Splash

His style and the scope of his work have evolved considerably over time, but it was important to the artist to show the full range of his skills. The site is complex, with many categories and subcategories of beautiful art glass.

Ridge Supply
Ridge Supply,
a wholesale hardware supplier, wanted a simple site to give their business a web presence in several specialty catagories.

They were especially concerned with their positioning in search engines, so research

into the popularity of important keywords and their placement on the site and in the code was emphasized.

The folks at Vermillion River Tender Treats  wanted a simple site that would give their small, family-owned business a web presence.

They wanted a site that was amusing as well as informative, which led to the corn roll-overs and animated squirrels.

(They decided that the "flash" squirrels were a bit over the top, but you can see them by visiting my flash page)

(Note: Vermillion River decided to take their site off line in Oct, 2004)

OPRF PTO

Lombard and Thomas will consider doing volunteer or reduced-rate work for non-profits or charities.

At left is the home page for the Oak Park River Forest (IL) High School's PTO. The site is updated monthly as new meetings and events are scheduled.

Lombard and Thomas had a partnership with Woven Web Development of Redwood City, California so we designed the home page graphics in exchange for programming services.
